Fasting Requirements
Tests that require fasting to ensure accurate results include those measuring glucose, cholesterol, and triglycerides.
If fasting is required: Do not eat or drink anything (except water or sugar-free tea) after 10:00 PM the night before your test. You may drink water freely to stay hydrated.
Avoid coffee, tea with sugar, gum, or mints, as they can affect your results.
Take prescribed medications as directed by your doctor, unless advised otherwise.
If you accidentally eat or drink something: t’s best to reschedule your blood draw, as your results may not be accurate.
Fasting is not required for tests that do not include glucose, cholesterol, or triglycerides. You may eat and drink normally before your appointment unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
